How To Find Out If You Have a Warrant in Las Vegas

Mar 14, 2017Legal Tips, Warrants

There are two types of warrants; the first being an arrest warrant, which is generally issued by law enforcement after completing an investigation. The second type is a bench warrant which is usually issued when someone fails to appear in court to face either a criminal charge or traffic citation.

When law enforcement in Las Vegas, Henderson and Southern Nevada makes contact with an individual and runs their ID, both types of warrants will show up. In most cases, law enforcement is not actively searching for warrants, but will arrest on a warrant if an individual is stopped even for the slightest traffic infraction. When this happens the person being arrested is likely going to jail.

The simplest and most accurate way to determine if you have an arrest or bench warrant is by calling the court house that would be managing the citation or investigation. A list of courts in the Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson and surrounding areas including their address, web and phone information is listed below. This process can be both time consuming and frustrating, especially in cases where clerical errors may have been made such as improper spelling on the charging document or citation.

If you have determined that you have a warrant, your best chance of avoiding arrest is consulting with an attorney who can contact the respective court on your behalf to negotiate a settlement and quash the warrant before it is executed. In almost all cases with the Las Vegas Ticket Authority, this can be done without having to even go to court.

The Las Vegas Ticket Authority is available to help with both the location and elimination of arrest and bench warrants.
